Shin Hye is celebrating her 10th year anniversary since she became an actress. It's not a secret that she was first trained to be a singer but eventually ended up being an actress instead.
When she was asked by her manager on what she wanted to do to celebrate her anniversary she came up with an idea that she really wanted to do.
"Oppa, can I really decide on what I want to do for my anniversary?" Shin Hye asked her manager.
He nodded and she smile happily.
"If that's the case, then I want to fulfill my greatest dream for my anniversary." She said while clapping her hands.
"Do you mean...?" Shin Hye interrupt him. "Yes Oppa. I want to launch an album to celebrate my ten years in the entertainment industry."
Her manager is thinking if she's really serious but knowing Shin Hye he knows if she decided on something it's final.
"I know you really want this. Don't worry about that. Tomorrow I will discuss this with Hyung. I think we can talk to the recording companies who released the songs from your dramas and movies. We can just collate all the songs and you can already release an album." He said.
Shin Hye suddenly felt sad when she heard her manager. His manager noticed it.
"Shin Hye-ah, is there something wrong with what I have said?" He asked.
"Oppa, when I said I want an album I want to be part of it. It means I want one of the songs written by me." She said and sighed.
"What do you mean song written by you?" He was curious.
Shin Hye stand up and went to the window. She looked at the view of Han River where her condo has a view of the beauty of it. "I want the people to hear a new song from me. A song that speaks about what Shin Hye feels and not the character I played in my dramas or movies."
"But that will be too risky. What if people won't like it? Your career will be affected too" He asked in concern.
"I know that Oppa. But this is what I want. Can we do something about it?" She was teary eye.
He walks towards Shin Hye and hug her. "Don't cry. We will do as you wish." He looked at her. "You will write a song for your album and it will be a big hit."
Shin Hye can't control her tears and cry.
The next few days, Shin Hye became busy with her projects. Her manager met the President of their agency to discuss about her anniversary project. When everything was settled, her manager brings Shin Hye to the President to discuss her anniversary project.
"Jun told me about your proposal on your anniversary project" President Han said looking at Shin Hye. She felt worried with the way he look at her and the tone of his voice. "And I must say it was a good idea" he then smile.
"Really Oppa!!!" She smile and run towards him. "Gomawo Oppa!" She hugged him tight.
He released himself from the hug and pinches her cheek. "Can I say no to my favorite talent?"
Shin Hye smiles. "Of course you can't!"
"Aigoo! Jun, if all my talents will see this, do you think they will still listen to me when I discuss something with them?" He asked Manager Jun while smiling.
Manager Jun laughed and said. "I think they will listen…” He paused “Not to you but to Shin Hye"
"Oppa!!!" She walked back to her seat and sit beside him.
"You are already a grown up lady but the way you act in front of me. You are still like the young girl when your Umma brought you to me." He said remembering the first time her mother came to his office.
At that time FNCSALT, was just starting. Shin Hye's mother came to his office with then ten years old Shin Hye. She trained as a singer for three years but was launched as an actress after being accepted in a drama where she auditioned.
"Yes Oppa. And I am very thankful that Umma choose your agency." She said and smile.
"And I am happy too that you are here with me." He smiled but you can see sadness in his eyes.
Manager Jun looked at him and then changed the conversation. "So, what are we going to do with her proposal Hyung?"
"Just like what Shin Hye wanted, she will have an album. We will include all her songs from her dramas and movies. But the first single will be a song written by her." He gave Shin Hye and Manager Jun sheets of paper. "That will be the list of songs that we will be part of the album."

"Yes." He smiled. "But that's not all." He smirked.
"Oppa, I don't like that smile of yours. What do you mean by that's not all?" She asked.
Manager Jun, who knows what President Han meant answer her. "What Hyung is saying, you will be working with one more artist."
"One more artist?" She asked and raised her brow.
"You said you want to write your own song right?" President Han asked and Shin Hye nods. "If you want it to be a successful one, you need to work with someone who is good with that."
"So?" She asked curious. "I will asked someone to help you and we will let the people see the story of your song."
"Eh?! Oppa I don't get it." She is still lost with what they are saying.
"You will appear in a reality show for a month. It will feature an actress co writing a song with a well known composer/song writer." Manager Jun explained.
"You will be the first actress in that show. If this will succeed then others will be featured next." President Han added. "And since you want to release an album, when they offered it yesterday I immediately said yes. I hope its ok for you?"
"Of course Oppa! I would love to do that!" She can't hide her happiness. "If I will be working with a song writer, who will it be?" She asked.
"Well about that, I already told MBC that I will choose who you will be working with." He looked at Manager Jun.
"Are you saying you will get him?" He asked surprised.
"Yes." He smiled. "Will he agree?" Manager Jun doubts that the composer will agree.
"I'm sure he will." He smiled and then looks at Shin Hye.
"Who is he Oppa?" She asked.
"You'll meet him soon." President Han answered.
After their meeting, Shin Hye and her manager excuse themselves as they need to leave for her photo shoot. Her manager went to the men's room first while she went down already.
"Who could it be the composer that I will be working with?" She was busy thinking while walking that she didn't notice that she already bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I'm walking at." She bow but the guy immediately walks away. "What's wrong with him? He should have at least told me if he is ok?"
Days passed and the schedule for the reality show has been finalized. For a week, Shin Hye and the composer will be staying on a separate villa near a beach in Jeju Island.
This is the special request of the composer. He don’t want to be seen in public but for this show he agreed. The reason, only him and President Han knows. And doing it in a place away from public’s eyes will be better.
Even the people in charge of the show were surprised when he agreed for the show.
As part of the show, they asked her some questions. It was when she was asked who she expected to work with that made the composer who is sitting only few seats from her smile.

"Who do I expect to work with? Hmmm..." She acts like thinking. "Lee Hong Ki or Lee Seung Gi?" Then she clasped her hand. "Omo! Will it be too much if I wish it will be Jung Yong Hwa?!" She smiled but it eventually fades. "But we do all know that he doesn't like being in public right?"
"I don't but for my Shinnie I'll do anything." Yong Hwa whispered that only he can hear.
Once they reach the airport, Shin Hye used a separate car from Yong Hwa. When she reached her villa, she was informed that the composer already arrived and was staying on the villa next to her.
"Really?! When will I meet him?" She is really excited.
"You will meet him in time." The staff answered her.
"What do you mean in time?" She asked.
The staff explained to her that for the next three days, which means until Thursday. She and the composer will meet in a special room in her villa. Friday and Saturday, they will let them decide on what they want to do.
The next day, Shin Hye was so excited for the start of her shoot. But she was surprised when she reached the special room.
"What is this?" She asked "Why do we have a wall here? It looks like a confession room?" She feels a bit irritated with the set up.
The staff explained to her that it was the request of the composer. He prefers that while they are composing the song they won't see each other.
"Why? Does it mean I won't know who I am working with?" She asked.
"It all depends on him." That's the only answer the staff gave her.
Shin Hye walked to the couch where she was supposed to be staying while writing the song. "Will he even be coming here to see if I'm writing the lyrics?" She pouts and is already losing her temper because of the set up. "How will I be able to work with this environment?"
After almost two hours, Shin Hye still can't write anything. "Aissh! How can I write with a place so quiet like this?" She sighed. "Can I at least have a guitar?"
The staff agreed with her and in just a minute they gave her a guitar. Shin Hye smiled when she saw it.
"Omo! It’s so beautiful! How I wish I have something like this." She said.
She played a song and sing along with it. Unknown to her someone was inside the other wall listening to her.
"You have an angelic voice. It matches your beautiful face" Yong Hwa said.
"Did I just hear someone speaking?" Shin Hye stop when she heard Yong Hwa.
But Yong Hwa didn't answer her.
"So it means the composer is on the other side and can hear me? But he won't speak to me?" The staff nods. "What kind of reality show will this be?"
Shin Hye stayed for another hour to write the lyrics but still nothing came up. The staff told her to call it a day. She can try to write again tomorrow. She had her dinner with her manager.
"Oppa, I don't think this will work out." She said before munching her food.
"What do you mean?" asked manager Jun.
"I haven't written a single word for my song and the composer who was supposed to help me is hiding." She said feeling irritated. "He only listen to me and won't talk to me. What if I want to ask him something?"
"Maybe he has a reason for doing that." He said to calm her.
"Whatever is his reason, I don't get it." She stands up. "I feel full already Oppa. I'll just go take a walk outside."
"Ok. Just be careful and bring your phone. Don't stay late outside" he reminded her.
"Yes Oppa." She waved and put her phone on her pocket.
She felt her irritation subside while enjoying the cool breeze of the air from the beach. She was walking when she suddenly heard music. A guy sitting on the beach was playing a beautiful melody on his guitar. She listened to it and instantly mesmerize by the melody.
"This is the first time I've heard this melody" she said enjoying it.
Shin Hye was about to approach him when she heard her phone. It is a message from her manager telling her to return to the villa. When she looked at the man again, he was already gone.
"Where is he?" She asked looking around but to her dismay he is out of sight already.
The next day, Shin Hye returned to the special room but this time full of smile. After hearing the song, she started to write the lyrics that she thinks will suit the melody she heard the previous night.
"I can write the lyrics first. Then later I'll go back there. Maybe he is there already and I will ask him if I can use his melody." She sound excited.
After dinner, she went to the same place where he last saw the man playing his guitar. She waited for almost an hour but the mystery guy didn't come.
"How can I continue the lyrics?" She sighed and walk back to her villa.
The mystery guy was actually hiding behind a tree looking at her. "Listen to your heart and you will know the right lyrics to the melody" he said.
Thursday, the day Shin Hye was supposed to finish the lyrics. The composer needs to have the lyrics so he can put the melody for the song.
"Aissh! I still haven't written anything again. I don't think the lyrics I've written yesterday are not good enough." She was teary eyed already.
Tears were about to fall when she heard someone.
"A beautiful song is always a combination of the right lyrics and a beautiful melody. This two should always compliment each other just how two people in love do. Their hearts connect in a way that themselves can't explain why." He said and played the same melody she heard from the mystery guy.
"It's the same melody." She said and smile.
He continued to play the melody of the song and Shin Hye suddenly remembered something.
"Yes, I can write the lyrics of the song about that." She place her both hands near her heart and smiled. After that she started writing the lyrics of the melody.
Shin Hye's manager and the rest of the staff were all surprise when Shin Hye approached them. She handed them the lyrics she have written.
"You've written this?" Her manager asked.
"Yes Oppa!" She smiled.
"I'm so proud of you" he hugged her. "I'm sure he will like this."
"Who?!" She released herself from the hug.
"Hmmm..." He doesn't know what to say.
"You mean Oppa?" She asked
"Yes! President Han." He felt relieve.
The staff informed Shin Hye that they will give the lyrics to the composer so he can put the melody on the lyrics.
The next morning, Friday, Shin Hye was given the music sheet. The lyrics now have the notes that compliment the melody. She was also told that she will perform it tonight.
"Does it mean I will see him already?" She asked.
"It depends on the outcome of the song." The staff answered.
"What?! Is he expecting a perfect song? How can we achieve that if he just gave me this today?" She said a bit irritated.
"He said he know you can." The staff smile and then left.
"What?" She pouts. "Is he really testing me? If that's what you want. I'll show you what Park Shin Hye can do." She said and then went to her room to practice the song.
"So, I have to sing this without music?" She sighed. "I can do it!"
At exactly eight in the evening, Shin Hye went out of her room. She's wearing a simple dress with light make up.
"Oppa will I be singing the song in the special room?" She asked manager Jun when she noticed that most of the staffs are not inside the villa.
"No. The composer requested that you do it in his villa." He said
"Special request again?!" She sighed and looks at the camera. "Please don't edit this. I'm really getting pissed with him. Is he that special that we have to follow all his requests?"
"You will know Shin Hye. If he likes your song, you will see him. Just see for yourself if he is really that special" He smile and pat her shoulder.
"I'm sure he will. Oppa just wait on what I'll do once I saw him." She smirked.
"I'm also excited to see your reaction Shin Hye once you see him" manager Jun said to himself.
"You are saying something Oppa?" She asked.
"Yes. I said lets go. He must be waiting for you already." He said and then they go to Yong Hwa's villa.
When they reach Yong Hwa’s villa, Manager Jun open the door for her. Shin Hye was surprised to see what is inside the villa.
There is a small stage with a chair in the middle. The place was decorated with flowers and a big photo of her on the back. It was like a stage meant for a simple concert.
"Omo! Oppa, what is this?" She exclaimed.
"I guess idea of the composer again?" He said and leads Shin Hye to the stage.
"Will I start now Oppa?" She was clueless on what to do next.
"Just wait for him. He will tell you when to start." He said and leaves Shin Hye.
All through out, the camera man was recording all her actions. She was busy rehearsing her song again when she heard a voice again.
"Your lyrics... you have written it because of my music. My music... I have created it because of someone on my mind." He said while playing the melody of the song. "After reading your lyrics I know it is the right one for my melody. Now, the lyrics and the melody are one." He paused. "Let us show how a well written lyrics and full of emotion melody created a beautiful song. A song full of love because of two people... You and Me without seeing each other finished it through a connection called..." He stops.
"Heartstrings" they both say. Then Yong Hwa started the main intro of the song and just how their hearts are connected Shin Hye started to sing the song.
“You are the song playing so softly in my heart. I reach for you. You seem so near and yet so far.”
Shin Hye sings while she reminisce her childhood friend whom she had a crush with.
“I hope and I pray. You'll be with me someday.”
She put her hand near her heart.
“I know down inside that you are mine & I'm your true love.”
She smiles.
“Or am I dreaming...”
Shin Hye gives her full emotion on the song.
“How can I each time I try to say goodbye.”
She remembered the day she had to go and leave him.
“You were there. You look my way and touch the sky.”
It was hard for her to leave him without saying what she feels for him.
“We can share tomorrow and forevermore. I'll be there… To love you so…”
She was thinking of him.
“You are my song.”
She was about to sing the next stanza when someone came out from a door and sing the next part of the song.
“I know for sure that we were meant to fall in love.”
Yong Hwa sings while looking at her.
“I look in your eyes. I know what you're thinking of.”
He remembered the day she left.
“I try not to say the words that might just scare you away.”
He tried not to show her his real feeling that day.
“I know down inside that you are mine & I'm your true love.”
This time he won’t let her leave again.
“Please, no more dreaming...”
Yong Hwa walked towards her and stop just a few feet away form her. Shin Hye is still confused with the way he is singing.
“How can I each time I try to say goodbye. You were there. You look my way and touch the sky.”
Every song that he wrote, she was his inspiration.
“We can share tomorrow and forevermore.”
He became "Jung Yong Hwa the composer" because of her. He knows what Shin Hye's greatest dream.
“I'll be there. To love you so…”
And one day he wanted to be with her in fulfilling that dream.
“You are my song”
Yong Hwa then walks closer to Shin Hye. He smiled at her and they start to sing the song together.
“Maybe we can last until forever. And I know that we can make it through…”
With every word in the next line they didn’t stop looking at each other.
“With you in my heart… in my soul… you're my love…”
Shin Hye smiles.
“You're my song.”
Yong Hwa smile.
“You are my song.”
By the time they were singing the last four lines, they were both looking comfortable on stage. The tension that Yong Hwa felt when he first started to sing and the awkwardness of Shin Hye with the way he stare at her were all gone.
“I'll be there. To love you so…”
They look at each other. You can feel the intensity of the way they stare at each other.
“You are my song!”
They stay for a while looking at each other. Then they both smile.
“I guess I passed you criteria?” She asked. “You are now here with me.”
Yong Hwa nodded and smile at her.
"Hi Park Shin Hye-ssi" He said "I'm happy to finally meet you. I am the composer who accompanied you in this song."
"Hello.” She waves her hand.
“Am I right that you are Jung Yong Hwa-ssi? You are the great composer whose identity was kept in public." She said.
But then she noticed the sadness on his face. "I'm sorry if you don't like what I've said." She apologized.
"No it's ok.” He smiled. “It's just that I thought you know my real name." He said then put his guitar on the side.
"Let me introduce myself to you properly." Offer his hand for handshake which Shin Hye gladly takes.
"I am Jung Yong Hwa the composer as they say. But for my friends and family..." He looked at her straight in the eyes while caressing his thumb with her hand.
"I am Kim Yong Hwa"
"Kim Yong Hwa?!" She asked. "Yonggie?"
When Shin Hye saw him smile, she immediately let go of their hands and hug him.
Yong Hwa smile and kiss her hair. "Shinnie." He said.
They were both crying. The rest of the staffs were all surprised to see the turn of events.
Manager Jun was so happy to see them together. "You separate ways. But through your love for music you are both here now."
Two people who separate ways united through a song. Her lyrics... His music... With the connection of their Heartstrings, they have their song.
