Narrator: The next day, after practice, Henry was checking his guitar when Kevin requested Gwen to buy some lattes for the two of them. Gwen frowned and went away.
Henry (Jong Hun): You did it on purpose.
Kevin (Yong Hwa): I did. And I want to talk to you, man to man.
Henry (Jong Hun): I love Gwen.
Kevin (Yong Hwa): Even before you came, I loved her already. I loved her for long.
Henry (Jong Hun): You think I loved her the first time we saw each other here in this academy? Everybody thinks that way. Nobody even knew I had loved her back then in middle school, when I was in the last section, and she was in the first.
Kevin (Yong Hwa):(stunned) ....
Henry (Jong Hun): See? I loved her first.
Kevin (Yong Hwa): But she knew me first.
Gwen (Shin Hye): Kevin...you...
(both guys look at her) Kevin (Yong Hwa): Gwen... I...
Narrator: Both guys went out of the music room to look for her, but she was nowhere to be found. Kevin was sensible enough to reach for his phone and dial the number of his best friend but she was not answering.
Kevin (Yong Hwa): Please.... please pick up.
(lights lit up at the left side, Shin Hye crouching)
Kevin (Yong Hwa): Gwen!
(Shin Hye looks at him, stunned)
Yong Hwa: Gwen... I...(knelts and hugs her)
Gwen (Shin Hye): Kevin... you... You love me? Kevin (Yong Hwa): Ne... I have loved you for long. I waited for years to confess, to be sure that my feelings are real. And even if we did not debut together, I never forgot you. Saranghae...
Gwen (Shin Hye): Saranghae... I was also in love with you for a long time, but I got scared... I got scared of rejection... I was traumatized with my love for Patrick-oppa... so I was afraid that you’ll not feel the same way too...

Narrator: The next day, the two lovers came in the music room in cloud nine, and they were holding hands. They found Henry sluggishly playing his guitar.
Gwen (Shin Hye): Henry...mianhada...
Henry (Jong Hun): Please leave us for a moment, Kevin.
Kevin (Yong Hwa): Just say it while I am here.
Henry (Jong Hun): Araso... I love Gwen too, but I know she will always choose you... So I guess... I guess... I will have to give up. Chukhahae...
(Yong Hwa goes to Jong Hun and pats his shoulder)
Kevin (Yong Hwa): Komawo... Henry (Jong Hun): I will drop my love, but if you hurt her, I will come back to hunt you down.
Kevin (Yong Hwa): No worries, I will not hurt her.
Gwen (Shin Hye):(looks at Jong Hun sadly)Kevin, can you please leave us for a bit? I think he may have something to tell me...

(A chair to the right, Yong Hwa enters and sits down. The rest of the stage is dim. He grabs his guitar and plucks some strings.) Narrator: Rain came in the recording studio and met Gwen and Henry inside. The two bowed politely while greeting the president.
Rain (Jaejoong): I have selected the new member after a week of deliberation. Here he is(beckons the one in the dark to come in).
Gwen (Shin): (smiles and gushes)Kevin!!!!!(runs to him)
Kevin (Yong Hwa): Gwen, so glad to see you again!
Rain (Jaejoong): This could be a reunion between you two. Congratulations!

Narrator: Henry was often left at the corners with his guitar because Kevin and Gwen were busy catching up or even practicing notes. He saw Kevin as a threat, because of him being the lead guitarist and vocalist while he became the second lead guitarist even if he also loved playing the guitar. Kevin was a threat to him, to his ambitions to be frontman and his ambitions to win Gwen’s heart. During lunch time, after practices, Henry would often pull Gwen off and told Kevin to eat alone. But Kevin would pull his BFF and told Henry that since the three of them were in a group, they will eat together. Because of that, Henry would silently storm off the music room in anger. Gwen was still so dense, but Kevin realized that Henry liked Gwen, but since he was the newcomer, he thought he would silently give in.
Kevin (Yong Hwa): We...I mean... you should go to him.
Gwen (Shin Hye): Wae~~?
Kevin (Yong Hwa): He’s in a bad mood. You need to cheer him up.
Gwen (Shin Hye): Araso, Kevin...
Kevin (Yong Hwa): (sees her off) I’d back off so you’ll live better...
Narrator: Indeed, Kevin ate alone, and only got to see Gwen by the time practices resumed. After practices, Gwen stated that she wanted to visit her oppa, but she had no idea where the Kalm Down dorm is. Narrator: And so, Henry took Gwen to the dorm, where they met Ben, who was practicing his song on the balcony.

Jimmy (Siwon): Chill! (holds Yong Hwa's arm)I will tell you why, Ben. Eversince Sam and Kevin got to be partners, Sam had a thing for my little boy here. Of course, I know. And some little bird told me that she had been spreading some news that Kevin is her boo, and that was what Patrick knew. But of course, Kevin here only thought of her as a little sis, and when they separated in high school, Patrick had been very furious for the breakup without even knowing the real thing. And of course, when I see their interaction the first time I introduced the group to the trainees, I had a feeling that there must be something between him and Gwen. And during that time that Sam came to the studio to confront Gwen, I was about to come in when I heard Sam accused her of stealing Kevin away from her. I saw Patrick drag his sister out of the room and told her that he was only flirting with Gwen to get her attention away from Kevin. I was sorry to listen, but I heard him say to her to audition so that Sam could train at our academy and debut with Kevin one day.

(Recording studio scene) Narrator: Kalm Down were in the recording studio. All the while, as Patrick was listening to Ben recording his part, he thought about the matter.
Patrick (Hyun Jin’s voice-over): Hmmm... What a small world. Kevin and Samantha in the same school in middle school. Then Gwen and me. Samantha and Kevin were lovers, but he broke up with her... And Gwen confessed to me back then, but I rejected her. Could it be that all along, without my knowledge and without Samantha’s knowledge, Kevin and Gwen had been dating after he and Sam broke up? I feel sorry for my little sister, and all I have to do as her oppa is to get revenge. It is my duty to seek revenge. And to do that, I will flirt with Gwen and steal her from Kevin to break his heart. That is what I should do!
Narrator: And so started Patrick’s plan of breaking the two apart. After practices (recording studio rolled out, president’s office in next scene), Patrick went to Rain’s office. Patrick can very well get to the president’s office because they were second-degree cousins, and Patrick only became a member of Kalm Down not because he had some great talent, just a strong connection. Rain listened to Patrick’s suggestion, and he readily agreed without knowing why.
(lights off, and lights on to see a classroom setting) The next thing Gwen and Kevin knew during their training, Gwen was picked to be part of Strings Harmony, which is a duo, but she would be paired with another trainee.
Gwen (Shin Hye): Ssaem(to Gyuri, who is teacher), Kevin...will not be my partner?
Music Teacher (Gyuri):(looks at list) Yes. (turns to Yong Hwa, who was disappointed)Kevin, the management wants you to train more. They are also contemplating on whether you should get surgery for your throat.
Kevin (Yong Hwa): Sur...gery?
Other students:(groans and murmurs)
Music Teacher (Gyuri):(to Shin Hye)Your partner will be Henry Kang, who had been a trainee for two years now. If you want, you can approach Michael Park of Kalm Down to introduce you to him. They are best friends, you know.

Narrator: Gwen sat beside Henry because Michael told her to.
Michael (Won Bin):(to Gwen)I had seen in your school profile that you also play the guitar.
Gwen (Shin Hye): Ne. A friend taught me how to play the guitar.
Michael (Won Bin): That is good. You can play the guitar and Henry does the keyboard while you both sing. However, he is also training on playing the guitar.
Gwen (Shin Hye):(turns to Jong Hun)Chongmalyo?
Henry (Jong Hun):(blushing)Ne...
Michael (Won Bin): Our Henry is a really talented chap! He can sing, play the keyboard, and soon the guitars... What else can he not do?

Narrator: And she suddenly glanced accidentally at Patrick, who winked at her slyly.
Gwen (Shin Hye’s voice-over): What to do? Why is Patrick-oppa like this?
Narrator: From that day onwards, Gwen and Henry practiced every day. Because they got to be close, Henry fell in love with her even more. But his love for her was deeper than everyone thought.
(Actors acting the scene)
Narrator: However, Henry was often desperate and angry, most especially if Patrick would barge in the music room after practice sessions just to give them coffee, often giving the tastiest Irish latte to Gwen. Gwen felt uneasy but a bit flattered that the crush who rejected her before slowly opened up to her and was being caring.
Not to be outdone, Henry would take Gwen for a ride home, and even pick her up in the mornings for practice. For two years, Gwen would be in a tug-of-war, being hauled here and there by Henry and Patrick, who were vying for her attention. One was doing it for love, one for revenge. It was also difficult for Michael because of his connection with the two.
But all the while, Kevin, who was silently training for a chance to debut, was looking from the side but could not even get near Gwen to fight for what he had been feeling all along.
